We are able to provide tuition on a wide variety of instruments* through our team of ten specialist peripatetic teachers. The cost of tuition is met by parents, together with the cost of music and accessories (i.e. strings, reeds etc.). The loan of an instrument may be possible and for this we make a nominal charge to cover the cost of repair and upkeep of our instrumental stock.
This provision is very popular with approximately 250 pupils having weekly lessons on their chosen instrument. Pupils are given the opportunity to enter music examinations through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, Trinity College London and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. A number of pupils have gained up to grade 7 before transferring to the High School and pass rates are extremely high with many pupils achieving merits and distinctions. Up to date details of our exam results can be seen under the section Music Exams.

Guitar: acoustic, electric and bass guitar
The school is usually able to offer the loan of an instrument for an annual fee of £20. If all our instruments are on loan, we will put your child’s name on our waiting list or alternatively you can make your own arrangements. Where school instruments, i.e. keyboard, piano, guitar and drums are used in lessons a charge of £5 per year will be required to cover the repair and maintenance.
